Open Submissions for Visual Arts Scotland's Centenary Show 2024
Visual Arts Scotland are delighted to be returning to The Royal Scottish Academy for our Centenary Show 2024.
This will be our first exhibition at the RSA Galleries since before Covid 19 and we cannot wait to invite artists and makers back into this beautiful, prestigious gallery to share their work and celebrate our innovative creative community, recognising one hundred years of Visual Arts Scotland.
For the VAS Centenary Show 2024, we are inviting applications from members and non-members in painting, printmaking, photography, drawing, sculpture, textiles, woodwork, furniture, glass, large works, moving image, installation, performance and jewellery.
As ever, our exhibition looks to celebrate contemporary fine art alongside applied arts and design disciplines; the crossover of this relationship being central to our message of inclusivity and celebrating the range of creative practices.

Restrictions
Work that has been shown in the RSA Annual Exhibition or will be shown in RSA New Contemporaries, or that has previously been shown in any VAS, RSW or SSA Annual Exhibitions should not be submitted.
No reproductions or copies of any kind will be accepted.
All pre-selected works need to be delivered to and collected from the gallery by the artist or a nominated representative or courier.
Selection
Pre-selection results will be via log in to your OESS profile on date stated in open call, we do not email results out to you. We will remind you to check in via newsletter and social media. We regret that we cannot offer feedback on the results of the selection.
Pre-Selected Works
Works that pass the online pre-selection process must be delivered to the gallery by the date stated in the open call details.
All works that are pre-selected online are still subject to final selection by the panel on delivery to the gallery.
You may be required to install your own work depending on the scale. You will be contacted in advance if this is the case.
Work selected for the exhibition will be subject to £5 admin fee per work for VAS members and £15 per work for non-members, to be paid on delivery via card machine, we do not accept cash.
All 2D or wall works should come mechanism free - no wires, no strings and rings, no mirror plates.
Works that are not included in the final selection should be uplifted from the RSA galleries on the date detailed in open call as we do not have storage unfortunately. If you have to come from afar, we can arrange storage for smaller works until the end of the exhibition. Any work not uplifted becomes the property of the VAS and may be disposed of or recycled.
